AS Level PE Hill Walking

We have recently completed a Hill walking programme with Y12 AS PE students from Gosforth Academy.

After three days of navigation training at Plessey Woods, Simonside and Blanchland Moor teams of students undertook an overnight expedition along Hadrian's Wall. Working in teams of 4/5 groups navigated independently to Winshields Farm, Twice Brewed where they camped for the night, cooked food and rested aching limbs. By the time they arrived in Gilsland they had developed fine map and compass skills, survived a night in the 'wilds' of Northumberland, and importantly were well on the way to securing high marks towards their Practical Assessment.

If Logbooks are completed as well as they usually are by Gosforth students then some very high marks will be achieved..great for the students and the school...and importantly the Y12 cohort are now a much tighter team who can all navigate!
