Berghaus Product Testing Day

It was brilliant last week to be once again working with staff from Berghaus on one of their Product Testing Days. As always staff arrived in the latest Berghaus kit to put it to the 'test' in an outdoor context...all very smart!

Our plan for the day was to do a Bushcraft / Survival exercise at Hardwick Park in County Durham. It was great to see staff arriving who had worked with us on a similar day last year at Allanbanks, and other colleagues travelling from as far as Sheffield and Birmingham to spend a day with us.

First task - Orienteering - find as many markers in the Park as possible and then exchange these for items to help in 'Camp'. Fires started - no matches - food prepared - game skinned and a feast followed: Trout for starters; Pheasant and roast vegetables; BBQ'd Camembert and baguette; Baked Apples and Bananas; Marshmellows and hot drinks.

There was also a chance for the creative to shine as staff designed water filters and snares. The filters worked brilliantly, but the local rabbits can relax in the knowledge that all snares were very 'Heath Robinson' , highly amusing and extremely unlikely to catch anything.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day and look forward to working with Berghaus staff again next year.
