Dame Allans Schools Y9 Expedition

What a fantastic weekend. We have been truely inspired by c. 40 amazing Y9 students from Dame Allans Schools, Newcastle.

They have been involved in a two day expedition in the North tyne Area. Teams started form Ladyhill farm and Stonehaugh on Saturday morning and headed north towards Bellingham in torrential rain. Despite the mud, the rain, the heavypacks and the wet feet morale appeared to be high. As is typical on expeditions with DAS groups were heard singing before they were seen!

We spent the night at Bow Rigg, a fantastic campsite and Bunkhouse in Charlton, just outside Bellingham. The tents were erected quickly and efficiently, food was prepared and a a good nights sleep enjoyed.

Sunday and sun...well not exactly...but at least no rain! All teams were away by 9.30am and on their way to Kielder Dam. Not surprisingly with a dry day spirits were much higher and the singing buoyant.

All teams passed through Falstone for a 3.30pm pick-up at the southern end of Kielder. Job well done!

Many thanks to the staff from DAS for their fantastic organisation. Special thanks to the students for their amazing performance on Saturday in the rain and a job well done on Sunday in completing your Y9 Expedition Award.
