York Steiner School

We once again got the opportunity to work with the Steiner School from York. They are staying at The Gibbs Hill Bunkhouse in Northumberland, close to Hadrians Wall and Steel Rigg.

The Y7 class were superb today in less than ideal conditions. We did a navigation exercise from Gibbs Hill to East Stonecroft in the pouring rain and then became involved in a very 'serious' search and rescue operation for Norman!  There were mixed feelings when we found Norman. Some were delighted he was a 'dummy' others were clearly hoping for a mutilated casualty!

Next task was to build a stretcher to carry Norman to Haughton Green Bothy. Two teams. Two Stretchers. Share the journey.

Got to the Bothy. Fire on. Packed lunches. Stoves and a hot drink.Skinned a pheasant.....felt very much like a Biology lesson as the questions were very engaging.Meat on the stove and a quick bite to eat. Even managed a 'Bush-Tucker Trial' with the Heart and Liver!

The walk back was made significantly easier by the fact that it had stopped raining and we were able to get to know a lot more abut the school. Thank you for a most enjoyable day.
