Astley High School Y11 GCSE PE - Climbing

For the last 5 years we have worked with Y11 GCSE PE students from Astley High School, Northumberland. Once again the PE Department have introduced us to a fantastic group of young people. We have had 3x 2 hour sessions over the last 2 weeks at Newcastle Climbing Centre, where the group have made fantastic progress, doing a lot of climbing. They are now all independent indoor climbers.

Today was their chance to experience outdoor climbing at Kyloe Crag in Northumberland. It was wet and cold, but our team showed great courage, tenacity and skill to make the very most of the difficult conditions. I hope they left feeling that it had been a real success and that they had achieved something.

We were delighted with their attitude, commitment and energy. They were highly responsible and took great care to support each other and manage the crucial safety aspects of climbing.

Really well done 'Team'. The high marks achieved have been well earned.
