El Cid Via Ferrata, Costa Blanca, Spain

I am working on the Costa Blanca, Spain for the next two weeks climbing with two teams of people who are no-doubt looking forward to the brilliant crags, great locations, blue skies and some long overdue sun!

I traveled out a day early to recce a Via Ferrata on El Cid (Grade 3 Difficult). It is the oldest VF on the Costa Blanca meandering its way up a huge 400m face on the North side of this impressive mountain. Within 3 hours of landing in Alicante I was summiting the 1127m El Cid, taking 25 mins of the walk-in time and 75mins off the ascent time. It was great to be moving solo in the mountains again. Got to say its a bit loose and exposed. Not sure I would use it with all clients. The descent, c. 90 mins was superb, coming around into the sun and slowly loosing height through beautiful woodland and marquis. Fantastic start to the trip.
Sorry.! The pictures are not good. Go to 'You Tube' and search :
